North America Smart Energy Week Adds EVI, partnership with Forth

(Alexandria, VA) – SPI, ESI, and North America Smart Energy Week, the premier energy event in North America, is building upon its electric vehicle (EV) platform with the addition of Electric Vehicle International (EVI). This co-located event will showcase the integration of charging solutions and EV technologies into the modern grid and will be enhanced by our new EV partner, Forth.

“We’re excited to partner with Solar Energy Trade Shows and the opportunity to grow the electric vehicle content at North America Smart Energy Week to help drive the industry,” Jeff Allen, Executive Director, Forth.

Leveraging the expertise of the Smart Electric Power Alliance (SEPA) and the innovation of Forth to develop the agenda, participants of EVI will have the opportunity to engage in the EV and Installer Theaters, workshops, and concurrent EV sessions where they can access business guidance to address the infrastructure solutions for EVs and fleet management, and the impact of COVID-19 on the industry.

Research compiled by SEPA shows EVs will be a critical component for a carbon-free future, bringing more than 93 TWh of demand by 2030 according to Navigant. Distributed energy resources (DERs), including solar and wind power, are necessary to help manage the load and support the sustainable growth of EVs.

Vehicle-grid integration, including managed charging and vehicle-to-grid, will be a complimentary DER technology to support the growth of renewable energy, also a key component of EVI.

“Vehicle-grid integration can be a powerful tool to better align and balance a power supply that is increasingly diverse, decentralized, renewable and intermittent with flexible demand,” said Erika Myers, Principal of Transportation Electrification at SEPA. “Attendees at North America Smart Energy Week are uniquely positioned to support the development of the nascent EV industry by providing the technology to help minimize grid impacts, and maximize grid benefits. For example, on-site solar, microgrids, and energy storage can support EV charging infrastructure by providing low carbon energy, reducing energy costs, and maintaining reliability and resiliency. Further, there is a strong connection between solar and EVs – customers often want both technologies, opening up new business opportunities for attendees.”

Last year, over 20% of North America Smart Energy Week’s attendees were interested in EV growth, including project managers and engineers from companies like Duke Energy, Southern Power, Pattern Energy Group, Exelon, Shell New Energies, and more.

EVI, part of North America Smart Energy Week, will take place September 14-17, 2020 in Anaheim, CA. The event will welcome the industry to analyze trends, discover new business models, and develop strategies to roll out managed charging infrastructure all in one location. Registration is now open at www.smartenergyweek.com/evi.
